Return to a regular feeding schedule after you move the plant outdoors in spring. Withhold fertilizer during the winter months. Cyperus papyrus Prince Tut, also known as Dwarf Egyptian Papyrus or Graceful Grasses, this nicely compacted grass has large poms on the ends of the stems. The plant may go dormant during the winter, but it will resume normal growth when the weather warms in spring. Papyrus is most likely to survive the winter if room temperatures are maintained between 60 and 65 degrees F. A south-facing window may provide sufficient light, but you may need to place the plant under a grow light. You can also plant papyrus in a regular container filled with potting soil, but you’ll need to water frequently to prevent the soil from drying out. Be sure to keep at least a couple of inches (5 cm.) of water in the container at all times. A child’s wading pool or a galvanized metal container works well if you have several papyrus plants. Place the container inside a larger, water-filled pot with no drainage hole. Move the plant into a container with a drainage hole in the bottom. Overwintering papyrus plants is easy if you can provide sufficient warmth, light, and moisture. Be sure to bring your papyrus plant indoors where it will be warm and snug before temperatures in your area fall below 40 degrees F. Indoor papyrus care during winter is ideal for those living in cooler climates. How to Care for Papyrus in Winter Indoors Remove dead growth as it appears throughout the winter. Be sure the rhizomes are located where they are protected from freezing temperatures. In its native habitat, papyrus can reach heights of 16 feet (5 m.), but ornamental plants tend to top out at about one-third that height.Ĭyperus papyrus growing in warmer climates requires little winter care, although plants in zone 9 may die back to the ground and rebound in spring. Winterizing Cyperus PapyrusĪlso known as bulrush, papyrus ( Cyperus papyrus) is a dramatic aquatic plant that grows in dense clumps along ponds, swamps, shallow lakes, or slow-moving streams. Read on to learn more about winter papyrus care. Although papyrus doesn’t demand much effort, the plant will die if subjected to frosty weather. If you feel like you are too late this season for some reason, just remember the Garden Guy's method of adjusting your containers with fresh plant material, you will always find you can do some Tut Tweaking to put the finishing touches to your designer containers.Papyrus is a vigorous plant suitable for growing in USDA hardiness zones 9 through 11, but overwintering papyrus plants is critical during the winter months in more northern climates. The design possibilities will be endless. The Tut family of papyrus are must-have plants whether you want to use them in the landscape or in containers. It is the granddaddy in the United States, garnering 147 awards. It reaches close to 6 feet in height which is small compared to those growing along the Nile River. King Tut papyrus is the leader of the family and is used the same way, as thrillers, as accents in the garden and even outstanding as a water garden feature. It is cold hardy to Zones 10 and warmer, but you’ll find it to be priceless as an annual. A few years ago I grew King Tut in a small DWC setup, topped it three times and I ended up with 20oz of exceptional smoke. It will reach 30 inches tall, perhaps a little taller in the South and screams "look at me." When the early morning sun hits the curly tufts of foliage, you become mesmerized. Prince Tut is one of the most loved grasses for containers and flower beds. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. Buy this you insignifiCUNT little fuck.High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. I have the utmost respect for Phil being able to pull off a wide variety of colors and emotions throughout his whole career, but pissed Lizzy is the best Lizzy. Hell, this is why Thin Lizzy are fucking metal. This album is the reason Thin Lizzy are respected in metal circles. Metal-archives readers, this is the reason Thin Lizzy are accepted as metal on the archives. You wanna fuck on the floor? You wanna break shit? You want to crash your car into a brick wall? Then scream it loud with me kids LIKE THUNDER! AND LIGHTING! GODDAMN ITS SO EXCITING! IT HITS YOU! A HAMMER! GODDAMN! Angry enough to start knife fights with bars filled with six foot six men standing two miles high. You want rage? You want angst? Wait, fuck angst, angst is for emos. Erupting with a riff that just saw its wife cheating with that lousy interior decorator next door. Then again, it could be argued that the album’s standout moment is the opening title track. He can and did throughout his entire career and made all those who tried to duplicate him look like utter hacks. Sorry James, but Boris was right, you really are the Keanu Reeves of metal. James Hetfield’s obnoxiously awful Waylon Jennings mannerisms? Yea you can blame those here. Bad Habits has all the great rock swagger Phil’s become known for, and if there’s any fault, its that the man makes it look way, way, way too easy. There are still some “rockish” moments on this album, but anybody who sees that as a negative can go shove their Lamb of God albums up their asses sideways. Aside from a few of Phil’s quips, that’s the only lyric in the whole song, but it just fucking works because Gorham and Sykes are like Bruce Campbell with two chainsaw arms ripping through everything in their path. It’s Lizzy jamming at an almost-but-not-quite speed metal pace with the lyrics “Some Day She’s Gonna Hit Back” being repeated ad naseum. On paper everything about this song should scream failure. If it’s shredding you want, Baby Please Don’t Go will be your forte, but not quite as much as Some Day She’s Gonna Hit Back. Making a statement of “Yeah, we’re aware you’re changing the scene, but we can still play and, as you kids say today, shred better than you can!” John Sykes and Scott Gorham (who is always on point) put every single guitar player in rock on red alert with their lead work here. John Sykes is especially deadly on the solo here, and this is one of the few moments where he doesn’t shred! This is probably the slowest solo on the album aside from the Sun Goes Down and holy fuck what a melodic lethal monster. Then again, if it did end the album, The Holy War’s funky but ominous bass line wouldn’t come erupting from the silence to violently slice all religious fanaticism from the crotch up. I say this because there are some days where I feel The Sun Goes Down should be the final song on the album (it was chosen as Lizzy’s final single) to make the final curtain falling truly effective. Strung out on heroin or not.” The fact that this album is so underrated even in metal circles seems to intimate that some in metal circles were still a bit salty because of this attitude, and as far as I’m concerned, that’s their problem. Some might scoff and simply ask why they didn’t go full metal back in 76, and the answer then, as it is now, was “because fuck you we’re Thin Lizzy and we do what the fuck we want. The fact that this was written as Thin Lizzy’s swan-song seems to support this theory. Thin Lizzy were getting accusations of “going heavy metal” and Phil just responds to them with his usual “Yeah? and? Fuck you if you can’t take it.” While Thin Lizzy have consistently had a great hard rock vehicle since 75-76, it always felt like heavy metal was the ultimate destination. In terms of sheer intensity, this goes toe-to-toe with every heavy metal album released in 1983 with the exceptions of Kill Em All and Show No Mercy (maybe even Melissa). Dear Nightwish, THIS is what your ballads should sound like. While we do get a respite, and a fairly early one too, with The Sun Goes Down, its bleak atmosphere sound makes it a very welcome addition to the album. But this is no Scott Travis performance (though judging from the live version of Sha-La-La, I think its arguable he could have easily approached that territory). That’s not a knock on Brian Downey either, he’s in fine form here as he always is. With the exception of the drums, that describes this album’s sound pretty well. And Shutterfly delivers to over 100 countries worldwide. Interestingly, an 8 x 10-inch print will cost less than one of Shutterfly’s framed prints. They come with quite large beveled edges and acrylic blocks to support them on a table. Unlike the prints we have seen so far, these are designed to be displayed against a light source, allowing the light to shine through. Curved prints are available in four sizes from 5 x 7 inches (12.5 x 17 cm) to 10 x 12 inches (25.5 x 30.5 cm). Flat prints are available in five sizes from 5 x 7 inches (12.5 x 17 cm) to 10 x 12 inches (25.5 x 30.5 cm). They have a seemingly endless range of products, of which glass prints are one. Shutterfly is a well-known print-to-order company. But they did say “currently” when I asked them about only shipping to Europe. The prices are very competitive, so it is a pity that they only ship to Europe. The glass is fitted with a hanging plate and wall spacers, so they hang parallel to the wall. One of their selling points is that the print is weatherproof, so it can be used in damp areas and even outside. The glass is 1/4 inch (7 mm) thick, with polished bevel edges. The glass has a glossy finish (actually, the firm is Finnish too). Not only do they offer 38 different size combinations of glass print, but they also offer custom sizes. You can choose metal, wood, fine art paper, or even poster-size self-adhesive prints. Like Snapfish, Beyondprint offers a range of print services. The US store only delivers to US addresses. Although Snapfish has European and Australian websites, the glass prints are unavailable there. Overall, there is not as much flexibility in size or presentation methods. The price is similar to Fracture, but the two sites sell prints of different sizes. The gloss-only prints are on bevel-edged glass and come with acrylic blocks to stand them up. They offer two sizes 5 x 7 inches (12.5 x 17 cm) and 8 x 10 inches (20.5 x 25.5 cm). Perhaps as a consequence of that, their glass prints are much more limited. While Fracture only sells glass prints, Snapfish sells dozens of different print media. The simplicity of the system and the company’s green credentials make this a good choice, especially if the sizes they offer suit your needs. Unlike some prints, they are not designed to let light through. They are delivered to you in their various sizes with a paper template to mark the screw locations on your wall.įracture glass prints have rounded edges to make them safe. Here you upload your photos to a layout of your choice. This allows easy fixing to the wall with a simple screw (supplied) or as a stand-up photo.Īnother display option is their Storyboard-a wooden shelf with three grooves to allow prints to be layered. A mounting card is fixed to the rear of the print. You can choose original glossy or a matte finish. Thick white ink is then applied to the rear of the glass. The ink is then cured instantly with UV light. Their printing process prints every color but white on the surface of the glass. And they ship internationally.įracture offers six print sizes, from 5 x 5 inches (12.5 x 12.5 cm), to 21.6 x 28.8 inches (55 x 73 cm). So when your prints arrive, you won’t find packing peanuts or bubble wrap. They are a carbon-neutral company and fulfill their orders from their manufacturing plant in Florida. But we’re not here to judge.įracture is proud of its environmental credentials. There’s a parachute school in Prague called “Impakt.” “Fracture” seems like a similarly bad name for a glass photo print service. But don’t worry, I’ll steer you through your options. Different printers offer different types. The main choice, apart from the size, is curved vs flat and wall-mounted vs free-standing.īut there is also the question of opaque backing or translucent. But we’ll help you unravel the various options. One of the problems comparing glass printing services is that there is such a variety available. () What Type of Glass Prints Are Available? Glass prints certainly have the potential to create a stunning display of wall art. But like metal prints and other specialty products, you arrange your glass photo printing online and have them delivered. It’s unlikely you’ll find someone locally that does it. Glass printing is still quite a specialist service. And there are quite a few of them out there. And it will almost certainly break if you drop it.īut I’m going to look at glass print services rather than acrylic prints. Others point out that glass is inherently fragile. And it won’t attract dust in the same way. It won’t degrade with prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light. Some people say that glass is better because it lasts longer. It’s unlikely that you’ll find agreement on this. Buy from Unavailable Photos Printed On Glass: What’s Better-Glass or Acrylic? **Installing this piston requires setting the ring gaps. Valve reliefs have been sized to allow the largest valves possible with the stock bore and they have been cut deep enough to ensure compatibility with even the highest lift cams on the market. By enlarging the oiling holes that feed the oil spring channel and skirt, the piston stays well lubricated at all RPM which allows for extended high RPM use. We targeted increased lubrication while also pushing the compression limits for pump fuel and ended up with what we feel is the most refined 125cc piston available. Using our experience on the racetrack we've now designed and produced the most competitive and reliable stock bore piston on the market. Over the past 6 years we've raced with and tested over a dozen different stock bore pistons.
A calendar mishap caused the evil folks to attack early, with the mages suffering from this the most. Spellcaster University casts you into the world of fantasy where the forces of evil will always attack and be thwarted by the heroes, just as scheduled. It may be a tad short, and the transitions to a song playing may not be lavishly engineered, but it works and it’s fun background music, which is what matters most at the end of the day.ĭon’t expect much voice acting other than the one on the intro cinematic. I know that looking at the headteacher’s room is nice- you’ll get to see additional trinkets and stuff manifested as decorations that’ll get added over time- but I would much prefer not to have them in favour of direct access of the two submenus inside this room from the game screen.Īs for the soundtrack, Spellcaster University has some good selections of original music that fits its fantasy theme well. I spent too many times just waiting for the tooltip to tell me which button is which as I can’t distinguish which book is for which menu.Īccess to adjusting your schools’ rules is also tucked behind too many layers for my liking. The use of books on a bookshelf as buttons for some other options like access to stats, the headteacher’s room and… options… look nice but practically cumbersome. Grabbing cards from the rightmost side of the hand when you have an overflow of cards feel wonky. When you have too many cards in your hand, the handling of overflowed cards is a bit finicky. I do find some areas of the UI can still be improved. It’s the only building card that I have trouble parsing what it needs before you can place them, the others are much clearer by comparison.) (Though placing gazebos is weirdly finicky and unclear. All you need to know about what the card does are all there in one glance plus one click. Hovering on them shows more text, but you can toggle back to the other side of the card with a right-click, which is nice. Building cards show an outline of what the building shape will be, and you can see where the floor is connected, how big it is and other helpful stuff. Spellcaster University relies on cards for its gameplay (more on that later), and thankfully the card format is being made to full use in presenting information. Or turn the human ones into vampires if you like. You may get students of different species, like werewolves and half-orcs, to come study in your prestigious academy. Students can also come from all walks of life. The teachers may have quite the visible round belly you could fit in a pumpkin, and the students may get into shenanigans turning their heads into pumpkins. You can distinguish your teachers and students, each can have weird visible quirks. The art style is cartoony and simple, but also very readable. You will see this in the scenery area, where the students and teachers will not just move side-by-side. Spellcaster University will have you build wizards schools that you only view one side of a 2D plane, but all the characters and items in the game world are rendered in 3D. Presentationīut let’s not get ahead of ourselves. So, do you think you can do a better job at running your own school for aspiring mages in a medieval fantasy world, as the headteacher? That’s what Spellcaster University, a building/strategy game from indie devs Sneaky Yak Studio, is supposed to be.īut there’s an unlikely twist in this magical tale. The boarding school life some of us dreamed of having but have the classes be about levitating feathers for no practical reason instead of deriving equations for no practical reason. Lastly, follow the rental companies guidelines for usage on power. This is why the rental companies want you to use their product because they know it will not mess up their equipment. All of our margarita recipes can be scaled up to fit the machine size but we would caution against throwing in fruit or solids as it could cause problems stopping up the moving parts and make cleaning a disaster. Don’t rent a top quality machine only to put antifreeze looking margarita mix in it. It is going to be a cheaper alternative but the quality of drink will suffer. Using these outdoors is not recommended as you will just end up with cold liquid.Īnother item to check on is if the rental company requires you to use their provided margarita mix which usually comes in an unnatural neon green color concentrate form. The plastic containers have thin walls so any increase in temperature can cause delays in freezing which already take over two hours when connected indoors. We recommend staying away from the BUNN unless used under optimal conditions. The Parrot ice has similarities to the Cratcho and freezes quickly but has plastic coverings all over which makes it fragile and adds to the cleaning process. We have also rented the BUNN machineand Parrot Ice as well. The machine freezes quickly too, roughly 30 min, and we have tested it indoors and outdoors. This creates a never ending flow of consistent frozen margaritas. When the top portion hits a low level, it will remind you with an annoying screeching beep that it is hungry for more liquid. The ingredients are mixed into the top and feed down into the cooling chamber as drinks are poured. Some companies have a similar brand called the Frosty Factory Frozen Drink Machinewhich looks and functions like the Crathco. These are heavy duty stainless steel margarita machines that you will commonly see in restaurants. We personally recommend the Crathco Grindmaster 3311 or similar model. Typically, a company will list the type of machine they provide which is an extremely important piece of information. We have personally used several of the brands available for rentals and for the most part they will all eventually produce the frozen margarita you desire but a few do it better than the others. Save yourself the headaches for after the party instead of before by renting a margarita machine that will have your guests raving about your delicious frozen margaritas. Do you think all margarita machines are created equally? Think again. And seamless Patch switching lets you hold a chord in one sound while moving to a new Patch.
